What Should I Expect During the Move-in Inspection?

People are usually extremely excited and anxious on move-in inspection day. Soon you will be meeting new neighbors and potentially life-long friends. It is often easy to rush through the move-in inspection so that you can begin bringing boxes and furniture into your new home.

Remember, the move-in inspection is your first step to getting your deposits back, should you decide not to renew the lease on your rental property. Don’t rush it. You should come prepared and plan on spending an hour to an hour and a half meticulously filling out your move-in inspection. I get asked all of the time, “how detailed should I be”? My answer is, “I don’t know, how much do you want to be responsible for”? Then I chuckle. But seriously, it is important.

We will take pictures of everything during the move-in inspection. I get a kick out of it when people point out a picture they think I missed. It shows they really care. We love that.

If you notice something that needs to be fixed, we will immediately fill out a maintenance report and get it fixed. We pride ourselves on having some of the finest rental homes in Vancouver Washington and Portland Oregon.
